A few years ago this Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts burst onto the scene with these really tremendous performances in a couple of films Bullhead and Rust and Bone and if you haven't seen either those films they're really worth seeking out because now he's gone to Hollywood he does a lot of hollywood movies doesn't quite suit him as well and that's why I was reasonably excited about this movie Disorder because it's a French movie he's speaking French which is his first language and he's playing the kind of character that suits him he's a soldier he's back from a tour of Afghanistan he's got post-traumatic stress disorder and he's twitchy and muscular but he has those soulful eyes he's doing the stuff that Matthias Schoenaerts does so well an arms dealer who lives at this huge mansion in the south of france has left his wife played by Diane Kruger and
his young kid alone and he hires Matthias Schoenaerts to protect them while he's away in case anything should happen the interesting bit of the movie is the middle bit because he has this sort of paranoia and this PTSD and you don't know whether they really are being followed whether there really is a genuine threat or whether it's all going on in his mind in the last third of the movie it all becomes a little bit more predictable so this isn't an essential must-see movie but it is one to look out for if you are a real fan of Matthias Schoenaerts.
