In Moldova, the presidential election is just around the corner, coming up on October 20th. The country’s pro-Western and pro-EU President Maia Sandu will seek another five year term. Simultaneously, citizens will also be asked to vote in a referendum which would enshrine EU accession into the constitution. European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen traveled to the Moldovan capital of Chișinău on Thursday to reaffirm her support for the nation of 2.5 million.
