A very nice mandolin music box made by Paillard Vaucher Fils of St Croix in c. 1875. The fully cleaned movement has a good strong sound with the typical charm of a mandolin arrangement, and plays six tunes, including Verdi'a La Traviata and Offenbach's Orphee aux Enfers. The case is inlaid rosewood, and has a lovely inlay of a dancing nymph to the lid.
