Did you know that having CKD can put you at risk for cardiovascular disease? That’s why it’s so important to protect your heart when you have CKD!
Here are my top 4 tips to protect your heart when you have CKD ❤️✅
Manage your blood pressure and lipid levels - CKD can contribute to high blood pressure and high cholesterol/triglyceride levels which can increase your risk for heart disease and stroke. Be sure to check your blood pressure and lipid levels regularly and follow up with your healthcare providers accordingly!
Follow a lower sodium diet - A lower sodium diet has been shown to help control blood pressure and protect your heart with CKD.
Eat heart healthy fats - Eating heart healthy fats like avocados, avocado oil, olives, olive oil, nuts, and seeds can be a great way to help manage your blood pressure and lipid levels + protect your heart.
Move your body - The recommendation for those with CKD is to do 150 minutes of physical activity per week. For example, you could do 30 minutes of activity for 5 days/week to meet this goal. Be sure to move your body in ways that you love so that physical activity doesn’t feel like a chore.
