“Like a Dream” is the theme song of the romance costumed drama “Singing You A Song” (Awakening in Chang'an)《與君歌》, previously titled as 《夢醒長安》(“Dream of Chang’an).” Set in the historical late Tang dynasty, the drama series is about the fateful reunion of twin sisters Cheng Ruoyu(程若魚) and Qiu Yanzhi(仇煙織), in opposing camps. Involved in the volatility of the royal court, they grow up together, along with the young emperor Li Yan(李炎) and Prince Guang(光王). The magnificent production embodies the elegance of the Tang dynasty. Singing this song, “Like a Dream,” Zhou Shen unfolds the storyline with his ethereal voice, making the audience feel helpless in this entangled love story.

Produced by He Huihui(和匯慧), lyrics written by Wang Mingyu(王明毓), composed by He Huihui and Wang Zitong(王梓同), “Like a Dream” shows the state of love of the characters in the drama. The interweaving of strings and folk music reveals the exquisite deep affection. In the rich composition and classical melody, Zhou Shen, with his storytelling voice, placidly depicts the dreamlike mortal world in Tang, lingering in our ears. “Life is like a dream; how much happiness can we enjoy?” “Wish I could dream peacefully with my heart moored.”, the beginning and the ending lines of the lyrics echo each other. And in Zhou Shen’s singing, we can find the answer to our life in his singing.
