It was on August 1st, 1943 that the last major deportations of Jews from the Zaglembie ghettos began. Before the Holocaust, the region in southern Poland was home to more than 100,000 Jews. They were destined to be sent to nearby Auschwitz.
WJC, together with the World Zaglembie Organization, is commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liquidation of the Zaglembie ghettos, with survivors, their children, and grandchildren. We Remember.
