In this Rest Of The Story segment from October 20, 2000, Paul shares a history lesson about the settlement of Manhattan Island in what would eventually become New York. It was originally settled by the Holland Dutch, but soon thereafter the British stepped in and claimed it for themselves. There's been some animosity between the two sides ever since, as reflected in the vernacular of American English down to this day. Wait until you hear the surprise ending, one that all Americans should take to heart! AND WATCH FOR SOME HILARIOUS CLIP ART that helps to tell the story!

And by the way, my husband was a huge fan of Paul Harvey back in the day. He seldom had a chance to listen in during his busy workdays, so he programmed his then-state-of-the-art Pentium-equipped computer to record them off the airwaves so he could catch them later on — kinda like a VCR for the local radio station. Anyway, he saved some of the recordings from all those years ago, and in a recent fit of nostalgia, he dug them out of storage to share with you, my loyal viewers! It's like having an audio time capsule of one of America's greatest radio commentators!
