What’s up investors. Today I will show you everything you need to know about Wealthsimple Crypto in Canada in 2020. I will show you how to open Wealthsimple Crypto Account, how to buy and sell cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, and how general Wealthsimple Crypto interface looks like.

I will also mention one unbelievable fact about Wealthsimple Crypto.

First, you will obviously need to download the app. And the app you are looking for is Wealthsimple Trade, not Wealthsimple Invest. I will make a video talking about the difference between them both in the future.

As soon as you download the app, you can open an account using my referral link that you can find down below. If you decide to do so, we both receive $10. Free money!

After opening your account, you will need to press “Crypto is here” at the bottom of the menu. This allows you to open Wealthsimple Crypto account. Read through the warnings, answer a couple questions, which Wealthsimple uses only for marketing and research purposes. Accept terms and conditions and you are all set.

But there is one thing that you might’ve missed. Don’t worry, I highlighted it for you. Cryptocurrency that you are buying through Wealthsimple Crypto is not actually yours. You don’t own it. Meaning that you can’t use them to buy things. Instead, Wealthsimple holds cryptocurrency for you under their WDA name. Which stands for Wealthsimple Digital Assets.

They will execute your traders according to your buy or sell orders, but you will never actually own your Bitcoins and Ethereums. Technically, you can possess them, but this will happen under very specific circumstances.

Unlike regular stocks, which have premarket, market, and post market hours, trading cryptocurrencies is available 24/7. Because there is no physical stock exchange that is used for exchanging crypto.

But your investments in Wealthimple Crypto are not protected by the Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation or any other investor protection insurance scheme.

In order to start trading, you will need to deposit money into your Wealthsimple Crypto account. You will not be able to trade cryptocurrencies using money in your Wealthsimple Personal, Wealthsimple TFSA, or Wealthsimple RRSP accounts.

Another thing is that you can actually invest in just a fraction of Bitcoin or Ethereum. Meaning that you don’t need to spend full $14,000 CAD to buy one Bitcoin. You can buy as little as $1 CAD worth of Bitcoin. And you will hold 0.000073 of one Bitcoin. But price changes will behave absolutely the same as for full one Bitcoin, so don’t worry.

And that’s basically it. Very simple and effective way to trade cryptocurrencies using Wealthsimple Crypto. The best part about it is that it is completely commission free.

I personally do not invest in Cryptocurrencies yet, but I might consider it in the future. Instead, I am a classic value investor and I have two of my portfolios with Wealthismple Trade.
