Rainbowfish get their colorful name from their colorful appearance. This freshwater fish are mostly found in waters throughout Australia and New Guinea, though some also swim through the waters of Madagascar. There are about 100 classified rainbowfish species alive today, however, more research will likely turn up new species! These fish have sticky eggs that cling to vegetation and fry who hatch within a day.

Size: 1-6 inches (2.54-15cm)
Diet: aquatic insect larvae and other invertebrates as well as algae
