In this new video you’ll learn about different custom night guard types and which one is right for you.
We explore the function of a dental night guard and discuss the differences between the soft night guard, dual laminated night guard and the hard night guard.
What’s the difference between the night guard types and how do I know which one is right for me?
Now, before I go into the different types I just want to quickly say that any of our night guards will protect your teeth from grinding and clenching. No matter which one you choose, you’re still protecting your teeth by wearing a guard and putting a barrier between your upper and lower teeth.
The function of a night guard is so simple. It’s literally made to break up that direct tooth on tooth contact and protect those teeth. That’s it!
We want to make sure it fits well, it’s comfortable, and most importantly that YOU love it.

Okay! Let’s go over the different types of night guards.
We offer 3 different material types. Our soft night guard, our dual laminated night guard, and our hard night guard.
They’re available in different thicknesses and our soft night guard is even available as a No-Show Day Guard.
The No-Show Day Guard is a newer model we launched last year. It’s cut so that it doesn’t look like you have a night guard in at all.
You can communicate with it in. People love to wear it while they’re at work or at the gym working out. While lifting weights we tend to clench our jaw. Sitting at a computer we tend to clench our jaw as well.
It hugs the molars of your teeth and the plastic runs along the backside of your front teeth.
So, that’s an option if you’re looking for something to protect your teeth during the day.
We offer a soft night guard as well. It’s a standard cut, full arch dental night guard. It’s soft, bendy. It’s totally flexible.
It’s very “out of the box” comfortable. But it’s less likely to withstand the forces of a very heavy teeth grinder. It’s typically suggested for light to moderate teeth grinding and jaw clenching.
Our dual laminated or some people call it a “hybrid” guard is semi-flexible. It has a soft inner lining and a hard outer shell.
So it’s a nice little middle-man. It’s suggested for moderate teeth grinding.
The hard guard is going to be the most durable material out of the three. And the thicker the guard, the more durable it becomes. So, you might have seen our 3mm Extreme Durability Hard Night Guard. This guard specifically is for heavy duty teeth grinding or jaw clenching. We ask for both upper and lower dental impressions for that one. So that, we can make sure to calibrate the bite correctly.
That would be our 3mm Extreme Durability Night Guard.
Now, our standard, hard guard is available in a 1mm or 2mm thickness. Most of our customers choose a 2mm thickness if they’re wearing the guard at night. 2mm is about the thickness of a nickel coin. It’s for moderate to heavy teeth grinding or jaw clenching.
1mm is very thin. Like Invisalign thin and would be a good daytime option- so a good choice to wear during the day.
So, we went over the No-Show Day Guard, The Soft Dental Night Guard, Our Dual Laminated Night Guard and our Hard Night Guards with a special shoutout to our 3mm Extreme Durability Guard.
I think that’s it! Those are our different types of night guards we offer here at Sentinel Mouthguards.
