Two party leaders have lost their seats on the Southampton City council in a major upset at Thursday’s local elections.
Both Labour’s Simon Letts and the Conservatives’ Jeremy Moulton lost their council seats, but Labour still have overall control of the authority.
This reflected the region as a whole as no real change was made to overall control of authorities, but there were certainly significant gains around, the Conservatives took six seats in Portsmouth, but it wasn't enough for a majority.
Elsewhere it was a positive day for the Liberal Democrats who keep control of Eastleigh which had entirely new voting boundaries.
The Conservative majority in Winchester City Council was cut to just one seat after a Lib Dem surge.
But the big losers of the day were UKIP who suffered major losses nationwide - and our reporter Daniel Padwick has this from Southampton.
