The Agriculture Ministry to bring a data policy for the farm sector
Said Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in the Rajya Sabha
The government intends to form a federated national farmers database
It is currently done by sourcing publicly available data from the Dept of Agriculture and other data silos
The database to facilitate online single sign-on facilities for universal access
It will also navigate farmers with personalised services
It aims to increase farmers' income using the data and developing solutions based on that
