Lion dance is a traditional dance form in Chinese and other Asian cultures in which performers dress in lion costumes and imitate the movements of a lion to bring good luck and wealth. Lion dance is usually performed during the Lunar New Year and cultural festivals. Chinese lion dance is usually performed by two dancers, one of whom controls the lion's head and the other controls the lion's rear end. The basic movements of lion dance are found in Chinese martial arts, and are usually performed with powerful drum beats.
