The great decision Paul made was not only to go 48V but to split the batteries 3:2 between the caravan and the RAM. He has a total of 12,000Wh. Having a bigger battery is only a benefit if you can replenish it. Solar yield in winter is around 55% of summer on a sunny day. So alternator charging and big alternator charging is a must have. Paul can leave the van by the billabong and in an hour touring around replenish the batteries in the RAM by 2,000Wh. When he returns to the van, he can plug in the 48V Anderson plug and cross transfer the power!
