(1 Oct 2018) White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow praised the negotiations that led to the latest revamped trade agreement with Canada and Mexico as "good coming togethers" and a "meeting of the minds."
The agreement - titled USMCA - was reached late Sunday and gives U.S. farmers greater access to the Canadian dairy market. But it keeps the former North American Free Trade Agreement dispute-resolution process that the U.S. wanted to jettison.
It offers Canada protection if President Donald Trump goes ahead with plans to impose tariffs on cars, trucks and auto parts imported into the United States.
"We reached a meeting of the minds on several key topics," Kudlow said. "Things like dairy, wheat, other farm goods, autos, sunsetting. There were a lot of coming togethers here to benefit both sides."
