What we're going to cover right now is a basic technique that you'll find in any Aikido dojo. It's called Iriminage. It literally means an entering throw. We're going to show just a basic start-off, Ai Hanmi Katate Dori, which is a cross handed grab here. Again, like before, I want to blend with my opponent and allow that energy to go. I want to try as hard as I can to avoid the open hand. So, I'm going to move away from the open hand, Tenkan around, lift my partner, and back down.
So, again like in all the core Aikido techniques, my main objective here is to blend and move with my partner. Move behind, drop my weight, and take my partner with me. Lift, and drop.
I want to make sure not to leave my partner behind. I don't want to pull my partner. In aikido you always want to put yourself in a position to push, not pull. Behind my partner, push as you drop your weight, lift and extend, and drop.
Just because we're doing it from this grab doesn't mean this is the only way to do it. You can find Iriminage from almost anywhere. I'll show you that from a couple of different positions. Shomenuchi is very similar movement. Sukui; again, a very similar movement.
As this starts to speed up you'll see that it changes a little bit in terms of Ukimi. So, Shomenuchi. Sukui. Alright.
Iriminage.
