During a military divorce or separation, the servicemember spouse is required to provide family / spousal support during the time of separation, absent an agreement between the two or a court order.
The amount of money a service member has to pay depends on the amount of BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) that the servicemember receives (or should receive) and the number of dependants he/she has. For example, if the service member just has a spouse, then he would have to provide him/her with half of the BAH received. If there are two dependents then it would be 2/3 BAH, if three dependents, 3/4 BAH, if four dependents - 4/5 of the BAH received.
