Pope Francis will deliver an extraordinary blessing usually reserved only for Easter and Christmas.

The prayer will be televised from an empty St Peter's Square in Vatican City on Friday.

The Pontiff delivered the announcement during his weekly Angelus, praying for victims who are dying alone and families unable to say goodbye.
