Pakistan’s economy continues to face the effects of recent flooding and macroeconomic crises. Tighter global liquidity conditions and rising macro risks have further curtailed Pakistan’s access to international capital markets. To avoid a macroeconomic crisis, the Government must remain on track with stabilization and structural reforms underpinning the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility. Against this backdrop, The World Bank’s Pakistan Development Update (PDU)-Spring 2023 titled “Recent Economic Developments, Outlook, and Risks“, reports on key recent domestic and global economic developments, outlook, and risks, and discuss the policy priorities for economic stabilization and sustainable economic recovery.
The PDU was launched on Tuesday, April 04, 2023, aligning with the release of the latest South Asia Economic Focus edition. The launch event is jointly organized by the World Bank Pakistan and the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE).
The Report and the launch event are catered for a wide audience, including policymakers, business leaders, financial market participants, academia and the community of analysts and professionals engaged in the country’s economic development.
