Cranial Osteopathy for Babies - to a parent it's obvious, it says what it is - baby is going to get a treatment of their 'cranium'! Craniosacral therapy for babies, almost as obvious.
But as craniosacral therapists and cranial osteopaths we know that we will be treating lots of other areas of the body as well as the cranium. However, when it comes down to it as some stage the parents will definitely be wanting you to touch the head and 'treat babies cranium''!
But if baby doesnt like you touching the head, and some babies don't, then that can be pretty hard.
There's lots of ways around this including transitions and distractions, and I've covered that in other videos on the Kindred Academy channel, but with some babies that doesnt work and so in this video I explore a different approach.
And that is to not touch the head, and instead to hovver over it in order to later be able to touch it.
Additionally, I use this video as a cranial osteropathy technique tutorial in order to open for you the possibillity of extending your palpation skills so you can sense what is going on for baby beyond the boundaries of touch.
Practitioners who are open to working with the involuntary mechanism will already be familiar with extending their palpation past what is directly contactable by their hands (i.e the skin, muscls and bones), and as such Cranial Osteopaths and craniosacral therapists will I hope be very open to this avenue of treatment.
