Native to China and Eastern Asia, this ornamental shrub is now grown in the United States.
It's also known as the Glossy Privet or Chinese Privet, and can grow up to 30 feet tall in the wild.
The berries are employed as a "yin" tonic in traditional Chinese medicine for a wide range of conditions, including premature aging, ringing in the ears and chronic toxicity.
Beautiful white flowers are abundant in late spring, and early summer.
Does quite well indoors.
