bad
I just found that new way of doing the first ghost like a week ago, and decided to make a TAS to see how speedy i could get it. I have no clue if you can get fully through the wall without humping the box (although I have been really close), but i have gotten it with a really good crouch land on the floor then bumping the box twice. It saves around 2 to 3 seconds so it was useful in getting the time that I got.
There's plenty of timesave in various spots to save a few more seconds, especially if someone gets the ghost without bumps. If only I was better.... lol
btw ceiling boost @ 0:39 ez
Played @30 tickrate with slowdown (Half-Speed) and custom checkpoints on The Master Chief Collection. And yes, this by name and definition is a TAS but also is part segmented. sooooo yeah, not sure what to call it besides TASegmented
New: I made this TAS a few years ago and at the time I had theorized that getting a fast hanger 2 skip with 12-15 bumps was possible. And at the time I remember getting it in at least 15 bumps at least once but at this point I'm not sure if that's even possible. Same with the crouch ghost at the beginning of cairo and 7 bump ghosting. I've tried it again recently and was not able to get it in as few bumps. Again, it 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 be possible from what I personally know, I could be very wrong though (very likely), but when you don't have the right tools to test it you won't know. I should have only put things in this video I have gotten myself AND gotten at a minimum of a few times, not just once. I should have explained that in detail in the past.
There are many times where I've gotten things but were never able to reproduce them, such as the floor ghost in cairo to outside the space station and another floor ghost to get under the elevator in arbiter to save a few seconds. Whether it be because of the tools or it being a very precise trick I'm not sure. It could be either of them but when you can't reproduce it you just won't know.
Either way I don't want to be like others who claim things that are seemingly impossible. 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, 𝘊𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳.... haha. So as this video stands now I sadly don't stand by it. I will keep it up just because the rest of the video I'm kinda proud of, especially bug room and bomb room. It's sad that those parts on an otherwise decent TAS have me seeing this unfavorably. Even without those parts, this can absolutely go sub 2. Not only that but I would say a mid to low 1:5x. While this looks perfect, there's still a bunch of cool time save tricks that aren't in this that I've learned over the past few years, plus the standards are much much higher than they were back then so it would include better movement obviously.
It's probable that I will make a new TAS some time in 2023 but who knows. Another reason I want to remake this is because I really don't like how the animations for halo 2 were locked to 30fps on the version of MCC I used, it looks so choppy and bad. Not to mention the not so good recording and editing software I used... Sound flickers, audio being louder on some parts, dropped frames everywhere and bad segments. Another reason.
TLDR: Until those parts are proven or disproven to work, I would ignore both the ghost at the start and the ghost in hanger 2. Hopefully you enjoy the rest. Thank you!
