BEAUTIFUL BHUTAN: PUNAKHA DZONG, PUNAKHA
The Punakha Dzong is a landmark fortress in beautiful Bhutan.
By the way, a Dzong is a distinctive type of fortress found mainly in Bhutan and Tibet. The dzong has towering exterior walls surrounding a complex of courtyards, temples and monks' quarters.
The Punakha Dzong is located between the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in the Punakha valley. The Punakha Dzong, constructed in 1637 is also known as Pungthang Dewa Chhenbi Phodrang - which means the palace of great happiness.
