In a video circulated on social media a statue of a colonial slave trader, Edward Colston, in Bristol, England, was toppled and thrown into the river on Sunday in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
The death of George Floyd in Minnesota on May 25 has sparked worldwide protests against racism and police violence.
Floyd, a black man, died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee on his neck even after he pleaded for air while lying handcuffed on the ground.
Several dozen demonstrators took part in a Black Lives Matter protest held in Rio de Janeiro, Manchester, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, Rome, Madrid, and other cities across the world.
