On October 28th, 2024, the Atlanta Global Studies Center, The Carter Center, and The China Research Center of Atlanta brought together an innovative panel of experts with a title "China's Media Offensive in the Global South: An Assessment".
The panelists included Dr. Maria Repnikova, an Associate Professor at Georgia State, who discussed China’s media reach into Africa by drawing on her fieldwork in Ethiopia, Dr. Abbos Bobohonov, head of the Asia-Pacific Studies Center at the Institute for Advanced International Studies in Tashkent, and a Fulbright Fellow at Georgia State, introduced China’s media politics in Central Asia, and Igor Patrick, a Brazilian journalist, currently at the South China Morning Post, talked about his recent book on Chinese propaganda in Latin America.
AGSC looks forward to continuing our partnership with the Carter Center and The China Research Center of Atlanta in the future events to shed light on scholarship in our area focus.
