This video looks at Steve Gerber's career and writing techniques. He was an accomplished writer that helped elevate mainstream superhero stories. His lasting contribution to the world is the character of Howard the Duck. But once created, his surprise popularity led Gerber to a protracted battle against his employer, Marvel Comics, over the rights. It involved funding a lawsuit with an indie comic, Destroyer Duck, along with the help of Jack Kirby. And the story involves Gerber using his talents as a writer, to surreptitiously and sneakily take back Howard through a technicality.
