So where does Final Fantasy 3 (FF3) fall in order of releases you may ask? Well, in North America Final Fantasy III on the SNES was in actually Final Fantasy VI. That's because North America didn't get a few of the FF releases until much later than Japan, thus the original numbering of the games in North America was different than Japans. Final Fantasy 3 is the official third installment in the Final Fantasy series, so if you played FF3 on the SNES back in the day, this isn't the same game. This FF3 was originally released in 1990 on the Famicom in Japan. Whereas, Final Fantasy 3(FFVI) for the SNES was released in 1994. It can be a bit confusing, I know, but hopefully that explanation cleared a few things up.

This PC version is actually a port of the DS remake of FF3. This is one of the few Final Fantasy games I have never played before now. I hear the game can be a bit grindy, but overall it's a solid game, which makes me pretty excited to check this installment out. I hear good things about the job system in this game as well, which is something that hasn't been too fleshed out in more recent Final Fantasy games.
