I was chasing this sound and eventually was able to fix this - something the dealerships and repair shops could not diagnose. Long story short, seems the side oil actuator failed, causing oil starvation on the intake camshaft. This started to score the headcover. Had to replace the intake cam, headcover, and oil control valve.
