This is a brief overview of the common postoperative opioids given after surgery, Dilaudid, Demerol, Morphine, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Percocet, and Oxycontin are discussed in this video.
It's been updated to reflect the discontinued status of brand opioids i.e. Norco and Vicodin. They are now referenced by their generic name only- Hydrocodone Bitartrate and Acetaminophen, per the US FDA. This video was also updated to reflect the decreased approved acetaminophen dosing in hydrocodone from 500mg to 300-325mg.
I strive for current references for accurate knowledge sharing and through viewer feedback we discovered that even the latest publications become quickly dated as healthcare changes to meet the needs of the times.
