Using a variety of different eyepiece filters is an effective way to enhance visual observations of the planets and Moon, and more distant deep-sky targets including nebulas, galaxies and star clusters. Usually, a single filter is attached to an eyepiece, then the combination of eyepiece and filter is inserted into a telescope focuser to achieve a filtered view. To change the filter, you would normally have to remove the eyepiece from the telescope, unthread and exchange the filter, then re-insert the eyepiece and adjust focus. This process can be a hassle, especially if you wish to use more than one 2" filter during a single stargazing session to compare filtration effects. Thankfully, the Orion 6-Slot 2" Filter Slider takes the hassle out of the process by allowing you to switch between up to six 2" filters quickly and easily.
As its name implies, the Orion 6-Slot 2" Filter Slider filter slider holds up to six different 2" filters at once. When you want to change filters, simply push the slider gently until the desired filter clicks into place under the inserted 2" eyepiece. Tension of the slider mechanism can be adjusted according to your preference using an included 2.5mm hex key.
With ample spaces for big 2" filters, the 6-Slot Filter Slider makes it easy to quickly compare differently filtered views, or you can leave a slot open for an unfiltered comparison. Thanks to six included step-down 1.25" adapters, you can also use 1.25" filters with the slider. In addition to visual benefits, specialized imaging filters can be installed in the slider to accentuate specific features in astrophotos.
