Not to long ago I made a video on the new Hydrogen powered Honda CRV. Well today we are taking a look at yet another brand new CRV that honda has revealed. But this one is a little different, so Buckle up, because today I have something wild to show you. The Honda CR-V Hybrid Racer. This CRV is not your typical family SUV. It's a one-of-a-kind creation, built by the automaker's elite engineers at Honda Performance Development (HPD). Now this like I am sure you know this beast will not be available at your local dealership anytime soon or for that matter, ever, lucky fans can catch a glimpse of it at some of the IndyCar events this year.
So what makes this SUV so special? Well, for starters, it's not really a SUV at all. SUV stands for Sports utility vehicle and I don’t see where the utility part comes in with this bonkers CRV. You see The CR-V Hybrid Racer is more than meets the eye - it's a race car in disguise with a custom tube chassis as the foundation and a sixth-gen CR-V steel body on top. But Honda isn't keeping it a secret, as the lower half is made of lightweight carbon fiber with massive fender flares and butterfly front doors revealing a racing interior. I mean this SUV even features lambo doors. The most impressive part, however, is the Xtrac six-speed paddle-shift transmission connected to a twin-turbocharged hybrid V6 IndyCar engine, which sits in place of the second-row seats. With a 2.2-liter Honda indycar twin turbo V6, this thing means business. Oh and no its not hydrogen powered like the previous CRV we talked about, but this one is still semi green. This great sounding V6 runs on Shell’s 100-percent renewable race fuel and produces a whopping 800 horsepower.
