President Bush has arrived in Mexico -- the final leg of a Latin America tour that's been dogged at times by criticism and demonstrations

The president and first lady arrived about 9 local time -- in the southern city of Merida.

As has been the case throughout the president's trip .. protesters were nearby.

Some burned flags outside the hotel where the president is staying.

Protesters also vandalized a U.S. Consulate building -- painting a Nazi symbol and other anti-U.S. slogans.

Today, Bush will meet with new Mexican President Felipe Calderon --
The two are expected to discuss the thorny issues of border security, immigration, and drug trafficking.
The president's arrival in Mexico comes after a busy day in Guatemala yesterday.

At a vegetable packing station, Bush helped load trays of lettuce into a truck .. A visit designed to show the benefits of trade with the United States ..
It was a theme he touched on later in the day ..

The president returns to Washington tomorrow -- where he'll push Congress on immigration reform.
