OK so back in the day Raleigh made a tool to remove the stands from their bikes. Part number RTR-312. However old school guys would remove and re fit stands in a similar way to this. Its nothing new but it may help people, its a skill that's forgotten. All I'm doing is using a ring spanner, for stubborn stands I use a bigger spanner or even use a small spacer on the spanner to compress the spring in further. Its a good idea to give it a quick spray with WD40 or something similar. There are tools out there you can buy to do this job but so far I've never needed to buy one. The longer the spanner the easier it will be.
