1954 MG TF – original UK RHD
The final model of the legendary ‘T’ Series MGs, the TF, was launched on 15th October 1953. It featured the TD Mark ll engine and was of far more modern appearance, with a sloping radiator and headlamps faired into the wings. The cooling system was now pressurised, so the traditional external radiator cap was now a dummy item.
The interior was more comfortable, with twin bucket seats in place of the previous bench type arrangement and the dash boasted octagonal instrumentation, as seen on the contemporary ‘Y’ Type saloon.
As with previous MG models, the TF was to prove popular in the United States, with the bulk of production being exported, so of the 9,600 TF models built, only a small percentage were to remain on the home market and this particular example is one such car.
Restored to a very good standard some years ago, this TF was supplied by Henlys of Bristol on 14th May 1954. Interestingly, the car was later exported to the USA and then repatriated in 1990 whereupon it was restored.
Carefully maintained over the years the car is to original specification and colour as per the Heritage Certificate supplied. There is a substantial amount of paperwork included attesting to regular maintenance.
Sitting on chrome wire wheels and fitted with a luggage rack this delightful TF is ready to enjoy!
