The sites and monuments of the Paphos Archaeological Park (Kato Pafos) date from prehistoric times through the Middle Ages. These include mosaic floors of four Roman villas, as well as Agora, Asklipieion, ruins of "Limeniotissa" Basilica, Odeion, Fortress "Saranta Kolones" (Forty Columns), and "Tombs of the Kings".
The city contains many catacomb sites dating back to the early Christian period. The most famous is Church of Saint Solomoni (Agia Solomoni), originally a Christian catacomb retaining some of its 12th century frescoes. A sacred tree at the entrance is believed to cure the ailments of those who hang a personal offering on its branches.
The town of Paphos, including the Archaeological Park, is on the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage.
