Kathleen O'Malley, Director of Community Cat Education for Bideawee's Feral Cat Initiative, teams up with middle-schooler Molly A. to demonstrate how to build simple winter cat shelters out of foam shipping boxes. They also provide tips on how to decorate shelters, line them with straw for warmth, and place them in the best locations.
Winter shelters can save the lives of feral and stray community cats! Giving cats who live outdoors their own insulated shelters not only offers them protection from cold, wet weather, but also means they won't have to climb into dangerous crawl spaces or car engines to find a warm, dry place to rest. Building life-saving winter cat shelters is the purr-fect creative project for cat-loving families, scouting groups, and school clubs!
