Recently, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana successfully completed its 9 years of providing financial inclusion to India. Starting with 1.5 crore bank accounts, PMJDY has now crossed the 50 crore benchmark with over Rs 2.3 lakh crore amount in these bank accounts.This also means that the average savings that was just Rs. 1,065 in India is now rising and currently it stands at Rs. 4,063, showing a 4.5 times growth in savings. The major beneficiaries of this yojana are women, accounting for about 56% of the total share. The benefit of RuPay card has surpassed the dependency on US-based digital payments like VISA and MasterCard. This generation of Rupay cards promoted Unified payment interface in India.
