Whilst I'm in Aberystwyth I get the chance to ride on the narrow gauge Vale of Rheidol line behind the their 2-6-2 tank engine.
It was extremely wet and cold, but I had a thick coat and, as a result, I was the only one keen (or daft) enough to ride the open coach. I hope you will agree that was the best decision. Riding in the open coach means you can enjoy the views from and of the train. Not only that, you get the smell of the steam and the smoke (and the smut).
