The video demonstrates a scenario for the detection and automated passing of a vulnerable road user using 5G communications. In the scenario, a road side unit detects a pedestrian on the road using camera and LiDAR and sends a warning to vehicles in the area via collective perception messaging over 5G. An automated vehicle wants to pass the pedestrian, but has a conflicting route with a motorcycle. The automated vehicle negotiates safe passing with the motorcycle via maneuver coordination messaging over 5G while communicating simultaneously with the vehicle behind. The scenario was developed in the Celtic-Next 5G-SAFE-Plus project and it was tested in the vehicle test track in Sodankylä, Finland in June 2022.
