Heavy snowfall impacted the Arizona State Highway 87 Corridor beginning mid- day Thursday and stranded numerous drivers on and off the roadway. An Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper and Gila County Arizona Deputy responded to the highway 87 corridor south of Payson and helped stranded motorists get out of the area. Parts of Highway 87 were soon closed therafter as conditions became too dangerous for the roadway to be traveled.
