Dal Tadka Recipe
Dal Tadka also known as dal fry or dal fry tadka is a popular dal recipe in Indian continent. Dal tadka is prepared using toor dal (arhar dal). The dal tadka recipe we shared will yield you a very delicious and moderately spicy dal tadka. This is an easy and simple dal tadka recipe, yet tasty as well as healthy. Dal tadka can be served with rotis and chapatis and steamed rice or jeera rice.

Dal Tadka Recipe:
1. Soak 1/2 cup toor dal (arhar dal) in normal water for 2 hours.
2. Put the toor dal in the pressure cooker, add 1.5 cups water, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp salt.
3. Cook till 3-4 whistles. Do not release the pressure, let the cooker be depressurize naturally.
4. In a pan take 1/2 tbsp white oil and 1.5 tbsp Ghee(clarified butter). Only ghee can also be used.
5. Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 2-3 dry red chilies, 1 tbsp chopped garlic, 1 tbsp chopped ginger, 1/4 tsp Hing and fry for 2-3 minutes till light golden.
6. Add one large size chopped onion, and fry for 2-3 minutes till onion becomes light golden.
7. Add one medium size chopped tomato, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder, salt to taste and saute them for 4-5 minutes till they become tender.
8. Add chopped green chili and mix them.
9. Add the boiled toor dal.
10. Boil for 5-6 minutes and add water as required and adjust the thickness.
11. Add Kashoori methi, chopped coriander leaves and garam mashala powder. Turn off the flame.
