(30 Apr 2019) Fierce clashes between police and anti-government protestors in Venezuela continued throughout Tuesday, hours after opposition leader Juan Guaido and key activist Leopoldo Lopez called for a military uprising against the government of Nicolas Maduro.
Latest video showed protestors torching a bus and throwing rocks at police and military units on the perimeter of the Carlota Military Base, trying to breach the security fence and entering the facility.
Police responded with tear gas and rubber bullets, pushing back the demonstrators from the fenced-in compound.
The protests came after Guaidó, accompanied by civilian protesters and a small contingent of heavily armed troops, called for the military to rise up and oust Maduro.
