This is a video of a male Goliathus goliatus I am keeping (named Pisco despite the short lifespan of the species). This gorgeous and massive species is found throughout equatorial Africa, and is one of the largest beetles in the world. Due to the carnivorous nature of its diet as a larvae, it was deregulated in the US in late 2016 and has since entered the mainstream invertebrate hobby.
This particular individual has become extremely active within the past week (perhaps due to warming temperatures where I live) resulting in increased eating and flying behaviors. Was lucky enough to capture the latter on video. Hope you enjoy!
