Sometimes you don’t want your phone to ring, but for those of us who do need to stay connected, even way off the beaten path, you know it can be a challenge. If you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know we’re been working on a Dodge Sprinter camper van conversion. And out here in the Rocky Mountains, getting reception can be a challenge, so when SureCall reached out to us to offer a test drive of their cellular boosting technology, we knew it would be a perfect fit in our new van.
What is SureCall Fusion2Go 3.0 and N-Range booster?

SureCall’s Fusion2Go 3.0 is a signal amplifier that can be permanently installed in your vehicle or camper van. It’s comprised of a magnetic roof antenna (with optional adhesive), signal amplifier, and an interior antenna, plus a 9 volt power adapter. . SureCall also offers a kit that allows you to boost the signal in your RV.

The Fusion2Go 3.0 is meant to enhance the cell signal for multiple users inside a vehicle.

It’s one of the most powerful boosting options SureCall has available, providing the max gain and power possible for an in-vehicle cell phone signal booster ensuring seamless connectivity in remote areas.

If you want something a little more portable, the SureCall N-Range booster is comprised of a removable magnetic antenna, and a combination mounting bracket and interior antenna, plus a 9-volt charging cable.

The N-Range is meant to improve the cell signal on one phone at a time.
How much better will a cellular booster make my reception?

SureCall says using its devices, you can expect up to ten times the signal power, over using your cell phone on it’s own.
How do SureCall cell boosters work?

To understand how these products work I talked to SureCall’s team by phone. Bryant told me that the Sure Call devices are designed to boost cellular signals both from a cell tower to your phone and from your phone to the tower, so your phone doesn’t have to struggle. SureCall’s Fusion2Go 3.0 and N-Range boosters don’t create cell signals, they enhance what you can already get, meaning that if you have absolutely no signal anywhere near by, these aren’t going to work. But if you’re getting barely one bar or the signal is fading in and out these should help provide a more reliable connection.

Helpfully, these work whether you’re on the move or parked.

These devices are what’s called carrier-agnostic, so they’ll work with any Canadian carrier from Bell, to Telus, Rogers, SaskTel and any carrier in Canada, the USA or even Mexico.

Using SureCall cellular boosters

Using these devices should be a pretty simple matter. Once they’re powered on via your cigarette lighter adapter, they’ll boost your signal. Of course you can keep them unplugged and just connect when you need to use them. In our campervan set up, we opted to hard-wire them in and connect them to a switch, so when we need a boost it’s as simple as flipping the switch.

If you can, it’s a good idea to use your phone as close to the interior antenna as you can; that will help ensure signal strength.

So did these boosters help? In short, yes! There was a definite and noticeable improvement in cellular reception with both devices. We were parked out on top of a mountain in the middle of a national park, and us and our friends routinely were getting one bar of service. With the portable N-Range, I routinely saw at least one full bar of improvement, giving me two bars. With the Fusion2Go 3 I’d go from one bar all the way up to 4 full bars, and I noticed the best improvement when I got really close to that interior antenna.

Overall, we found the SureCall boosters to be easy to install…..and they definitely helped us work remotely and stay connected when we needed to. If you’re often in areas with poor cell reception, I an recommend both these devices t.

The SureCall Fusion2Go 3.0 starts at about $599CAD and goes up to $699CAD if you want the bigger antenna in the RV kit if you need stronger stuff. The N-Range sells for $299.
