This is one of a series of videos from the Mental Health Support Team (MHST). This team is part of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) provided by Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) alongside Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
Zachary Hollywood, Education Mental Health Practitioner, talks about Exposure and Response Prevention which is an approach used in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LI-CBT) to help children and young people who are experiencing symptoms of obsessional thoughts, often referred to as OCD. Exposure and Response Prevention, commonly referred to as ERP, encourages you to face your fears by gradually confronting the thoughts, images, objects or situations which make you feel anxious, and developing coping strategies to resist the urge to carry out compulsions.
