Flute Etude 1

Auditioning for the AMEA HS Regional Band? This is the first of 3 etudes for the 2020-2021 school year.

A few tips:
*When you are learning this etude, play it first without the mordents in order to make sure that you have a solid understanding of the rhythm
*Be sure that your mordents start on the beat, not before it
*Line 2 can be quite tricky! Try to memorize measures 10 and 11 so that you know what notes are coming up without having to rely on reading them individually
*This etude is marked "Tempo di valse" so be sure to give it a nice waltz feel with an emphasis on the first beat of each measure
*Have fun with the dynamics - record yourself prior to the audition to see if they are coming across as well as you think they are - you might be surprised how hard you have to work for contrast here!
*Keep it light and happy, focus on style over speed
