Goa State Election Commissioner Chokha Ram Garg has announced that the Zilla Panchayat elections will be held on 12th December 2020 from 8am to 5pm.
Addressing a press conference, Garg has disclosed that the counting will be held on December 14th from 8am till counting has been completed. “As the elections dates have been announced, the model code of conduct will be force from now till 14th December midnight. Candidates won't be allowed to campaign anymore,” he said

Garg has said that Covid-19 patients will be allowed to vote at the last hour on polling day. “ All norms will be followed at the booths. People won't be allowed to cast their votes without masks. The commission has also identified 10 sensitive booths,” he said

It may be recalled that the Zilla panchayat elections were initially scheduled for March 15,2020 as the five-year term of the zilla panchayats ended on March 23. The elections were postponed due to Covid Pandemic
