At the beginning of the UK lockdown we thought it was going to be that. A lockdown, so I stacked up on a few treats. Don’t worry, I’m not the sort of person that stocked up on toilet roll, I just got a few treats that would keep my spirits up (pardon the pun).
So I bought a bot of sweets. It was very hot in the Spring and a few melted. But no matter, in they go.
As you can see, I didn’t eat all the sweets (got a bit bored with them if I’m honest), so thought I’d do something with them.
Lets turn them into wine or whatever it turns out to be.
The smell pouring on the boiling water was intense! All the smells of the sweets were so distinct at first. Now a couple of hours later, it smells more like Red Bull.
Cant wait to see how it turns out!
What next? I’m going to check the SG and add extra sugar (if needed) then add a yeast nutrient and an all purpose wine yeast. There should be enough flavour and acid from the sweets to make an interesting wine.

Edit...
So, it turns out that scum on the top is oil. This is the oil that is put on the outside of the sweets to make them shiny.
I scraped this off the surface once it cooled.
