Nara Lokesh (born 23 January 1983) is the son of Ex Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Bhuvaneshwari, and grandson of Telugu icon and star turned politician N. T. Rama Rao.
Lokesh claimed in January 2013 that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party derived the Direct Benefit Transfer System from a TDP proposal submitted to the central government. Nara Lokesh became Cabinet Minister for Information Technology, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development in Andhra Pradesh in 2017.
Nara Lokesh was formally inducted into TDP in May 2013, and worked on the election strategy for 2014 General Elections. He contested for MLA from Mangalagiri in 2019 Andhra Pradesh assembly elections and lost his first election to Alla Ramakrishna Reddy (RK) of YSRCP.
Nara Lokesh was born on 23 January 1983. He is the only child of Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Bhuvaneswari.
Lokesh has an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and Bachelor of Science with specialization in Management Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University.
In 2009 when he started managing the Telugu Desam Party’s affairs. He helmed his father’s campaign in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, the same year, showing off his abilities to manage the vagaries of politics. With behind the stage work in 2009 and active participation in 2014 general elections Lokesh took up the onus of cadre welfare and then became Party General Secretary, he climbed the rungs of the Party to eventually become a member of the Politburo, the highest decision-making body of the party. Lokesh not only managed the party, interacted with party workers and citizens, but also actively started charting the Party policies and strategy.
Lokesh is credited with successfully managing the TDP party’s ambitious membership drive that added five million to the cadre base. The digital tech used by the onboarding team—tablets, live data feeds and a real-time dashboard—was probably the first such use of high-tech for enrolling and managing party cadre in the country. And in 2017, Chandrababu Naidu inducted Lokesh as an MLC and a month later he was inducted as the Cabinet minister for IT, Panchayathi Raj and Rural Development.
In his watch, India’s first ever government-backed Cyber Security Security Operations Centre, (AP- CSOC), was designed, developed and launched, Asia’s largest Tier IV data centre went live in Amaravati, and Vizag can rightly claim its place as one of the most vibrant fintech hubs in the country.
Lokesh has been one of the Trustees of NTR Memorial Trust (popularly known as NTR Trust) on Healthcare, Education, Skills Enhancement and Disaster Management.
In 2007, Lokesh married Brahmani, daughter of Indian film actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna. they have son named Nara devansh.
