This video shows you how to make a delicious butternut squash gratin.
Gratin is a very popular dish that the Japanese love since it was introduced into the country. The Japanese also love squash - kabocha, as they call it. You might be surprised to learn that kabocha isn't native to Japan either. It was introduced from South America by the Portugese in the 16th Century.
Japanese Kabocha has a denser flesh than butternut and it tastes sweeter, but it's not easily available in UK, so I use butternut squash for this recipe. But if you find Japanese kabocha at supermarkets, I hope you try it out!
This recipe makes for a delicious, warming comforting dinner or supper!
